To A Friend’s House The Road Is Never Long
Paper size 11 x 14, image size 9 x 12. Signed lower right “Thom Klika” in plate, on gloss paper, 1974
This reproduction from an original watercolor is a rainbow going from one home to another home. A yellow sky with pink puff clouds and wonderful childlike trees. The inspiration for Thom was from a needlepoint that hung above his bed when he was a little boy. The quote on the needlepoint was “To a friend’s house the road is never long.” Thom was very much a good friend and tried very hard to follow the wisdom of this quote. In later years Thom decided he needed to do a new version that added the proviso that the road must run both ways. Thom would always see humor in his work and in himself. I miss that laugh.
